Olaszrizling Hegybor 2024

Olaszrizling Hegybor 2024 is a distinctive, full-bodied dry white wine that showcases the depth of the Csopak terroir and the more serious side of Olaszrizling. The wine is made from 100% estate-grown Olaszrizling: 75% from the first harvest of Bene vineyard and 25% from a select harvest of Szita-hegy vineyard.

The grapes were harvested on August 29, with a higher must sugar content than usual, to produce a wine with a richer, full-bodied and more concentrated character. Gentle processing techniques played a key role: after careful destemming and crushing, the grapes were transferred using a peristaltic mash pump, followed by low-pressure pneumatic pressing to preserve the clean and elegant must. Following must clarification, fermentation took place at a controlled temperature in a reductive environment, which helped preserve the wine’s balance and natural structure. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks. Fined and filtered before bottling to ensure that a clean, harmonious wine with long aging potential is bottled. The wine was released after additional 8 months of bottle aging.

Olaszrizling Hegybor 2024 exhibits a more restrained bouquet, complemented by notes of ripe fruit, almonds and a hint of minerals. On the palate, it is characterized by a fuller-bodied profile, rich texture, while the wine retains the variety’s elegance and the character of Csopak terroir.

Our 2024 Hegybor Olaszrizling won Gold Medals both at the Berliner Wine Trophy and VinAgora International Wine Competitions, and took 2nd place at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Wine Competition.

An excellent choice for heartier fish dishes, poultry, grilled dishes, creamy cheeses, or even on its own for more in-depth wine tastings.
