Olaszrizling Szita-hegy 2023

A single-vineyard, barrel-aged white wine with "Csopaki Kódex" certification, characterized by its depth and complexity, showcasing the minerality of the Szita-hegy terroir and the more serious side of the Olaszrizling. This wine is made from 100% estate-grown Olaszrizling, sourced exclusively from select grapes harvested on Szita Hill.

The harvest took place in the first half of September, when the grapes had developed not only fresh fruitiness but also a more mature, richer aromatic profile. Gentle processing techniques played a key role throughout: after careful destemming and crushing, the grapes were transferred using a peristaltic mash pump, followed by low-pressure pneumatic pressing to preserve the must’s clean and elegant structure.

Following temperature-controlled, reductive fermentation, the wine was aged for three months in used 300-liter oak barrels. This barrel aging does not dominate the wine, but rather gives it depth, a creamier texture, and a more complex structure, while preserving the character of the variety and the terroir. After barrel aging, it underwent an additional 7 months of tank aging before release.

Szita-hegy 2023 exhibits a more restrained bouquet complemented by notes of ripe fruit, hints of almond, and a touch of spice and minerality. On the palate, it is characterized by a richer body, a more layered structure, and a longer finish, where the oak aging integrates elegantly into the wine’s character.

The Szita-hegy Olaszrizling 2023 is an excellent choice to pair with hearty fish dishes, poultry, mushroom dishes, roast pork, or aged cheeses, but it also offers a unique experience when enjoyed on its own during more in-depth wine tastings.
